their training when facing unforeseen financial hardships.
ABOUT THE
FINISH LINE GRANT
The Finish Line Grants Program was initially launched by Governor Roy Cooper in 2018 with federal funding to provide grants to community college students who face unexpected emergencies including medical bills, car repairs, and loss of childcare, that might prevent them from finishing their coursework. Currently, the purpose of the funding is to assist eligible students who are dealing with unanticipated financial hardship complete their semester or program. These grants may help cover costs such as transportation, childcare or dependent care, housing assistance, utility bills (including internet), medical needs, or accommodations for individuals with disabilities. If approved, Finish Line Grants are paid directly to the approved bill or invoice.
ELIGIBILITY
Finish Line Grant funds may be available to students who:
· Have experienced an unanticipated financial emergency or hardship.
· Have an expense that Finish Line Grant is approved to assist with.
· Are currently enrolled in a postsecondary degree or certificate program at WPCC.
· Have a minimum 2.0 GPA and are making Satisfactory Academic Progress.
· Have completed a FAFSA for the current academic year.
How to Apply
- All students should first submit a FAFSA for the current academic year and have the results sent to WPCC.
- Students who have experienced an unforeseen financial hardship should visit the Financial Aid office located in Student Services in Hildebrand Hall, and speak with a Financial Aid Counselor to see if they are eligible to apply.
