Western Piedmont Community is a great place to study and learn this summer! Choose from a great schedule of classes including courses that will transfer to colleges and universities, prepare you for employment, or complete requirements for WPCC programs.

Money for tuition and fees to attend WPCC are available through the Longleaf Commitment Grant. See if you qualify.
Money for Short-Term Training
The GEER Scholarship provides help with workforce & continuing education programs. See if you qualify.
Take Classes This Summer. Get Year Round Pell.
If you are a current WPCC student who received a Pell Grant during the current school year (2022-2023), you may be eligible to to receive a full Pell award for the summer. This allows you to continue taking classes and finish your degree faster.
You should consult with your advisor and plan a course schedule that is manageable during the shorter session and contact the WPCC Financial Aid Office for more details.

New Students Must Complete The Steps Below Before They Can Register For Classes
There are three easy steps to help you as a new student Find YOUR Way to an exciting future at WPCC! If you need help completing any of the steps please contact us in the Advising Center in Hildebrand Hall on our main campus at (828) 448-6046 or submit your request at the bottom of the page.
1. The WPCC Application Process
- Establish your residency status for tuition purposes through the North Carolina Residency Determination Service.
- Apply online
- Receive Your Acceptance Letter
- Upon acceptance, access your WPCC student accounts using the steps provided in this video or by going to the Pioneer Pass FAQ Manual.
2. Transcripts
- Request Your Official High School, GED/AHS Center and/or College(s) Transcripts
- Have all official high school and college transcripts mailed to the WPCC Admissions Office, 1001 Burkemont Avenue, Morganton, NC 28655.
- Official electronic transcripts should be sent to officialtranscripts@wpcc.edu.
- If you received your Adult HIgh School Diploma from WPCC, please download, fill out, and submit a Transcript Request Form (PDF file – open with the free Adobe Reader software) and have the transcript sent to the Admissions Office.
- If you received a GED, request your official high school equivalency transcript by going to the GED Testing Service website and selecting the state where you tested. If you have the option to submit the transcript electronically, email it to officialtranscripts@wpcc.edu.
3. Take Placement Tests
- WPCC uses multiple methods for placement.

AFTER YOU FINISH THESE STEPS, YOU WILL BE READY TO REGISTER FOR CLASSES.
Signing Up For Classes Is Easy
- Access the Fall Semester Guide for answers to many common questions about registering for classes, financial aid, the WPCC Bookstore, and more.
- NEW STUDENTS – You will be assigned an advisor after you complete your enrollment at WPCC.
- ALL STUDENTS – Meet with your advisor to make sure you are choosing classes that help you work toward your educational goals and that satisfy financial aid regulations.
- REGISTER ON PIONEER PASS – Log in to Pioneer Pass and enter your selected classes in the registration form to complete signing up for classes. Check out our video for help with using Pioneer Pass:
Pay For College
If you register for classes before August 10, 2023, payment is due by August 10, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. to ensure your class schedule.
Payment Plan
WPCC offers a payment plan for Fall Semester classes during open registration. It will be available July 15 to August 10, 2023 (closing at 5:00 p.m. on August 10th). You pay 30% down and a $25 non-refundable fee. Get more information on the payment plan.
