WPCC Foundation Host Tesla Quartet April 10

Members of the Tesla Quartet, the resident string quartet with the Western Piedmont Symphony, pause between selections to explain the story behind a musical piece performed for an audience gathered at Western Piedmont Community College on February 20. As part of a partnership between the Western Piedmont Foundation and the Western Piedmont Symphony, Tesla will return to campus for a free concert on April 10 at 7pm. The concert is made possible by generous donors supporting the Western Piedmont Foundation.
Morganton, N.C. – The Western Piedmont Foundation (WPF) will host the Tesla Quartet, resident quartet with the Western Piedmont Symphony, for a free performance open to the public on Tuesday, April 10th at 7 p.m. in Leviton Auditorium located in Moore Hall on the campus of Western Piedmont Community College. This event is free and open to the public.
Winner of the Gold Medal at the 2012 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, Prizewinner in the 2012 London International String Quartet Competition and 2013 Bordeaux International String Quartet Competition, the Tesla Quartet was formed at The Juilliard School in 2008 and quickly established itself as one of the most promising young ensembles in New York, winning second prize at the J.C. Arriaga Chamber Music Competition only a few months after its inception.
Having recently completed their tenure as the Marjorie Young Bell String Quartet-in-Residence at Mount Allison University in New Brunswick, Canada, the Tesla Quartet also holds a community residency in Hickory, North Carolina that includes performances and workshops at local colleges, universities, and in the public school system, as well as a dedicated chamber music series. The quartet performs regularly across North America, with recent international appearances in London, Vienna, Beijing, Shanghai, and Seoul. The 2017-18 season includes debut performances in Germany and Hungary, concerts across America, and a residency with the Quad City Visiting Artist Series.
This concert is made possible by the support of generous donors to the WPF and is the result of a partnership between the WPF and the Western Piedmont Symphony.
