Western Piedmont Foundation Welcomes New Board Members
The Western Piedmont Foundation (WPF) welcomed two new board members at its annual meeting on August 22. The WPF develops public and private support for Western Piedmont Community College beyond state and local funds.

Shaun Cline, a WPCC alumnus and previous board member, is serving once again on the foundation board of directors. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and management from Appalachian State University and has held various positions in financial management since 2004. He currently works as a financial sales manager at First Citizens Bank. In addition to serving on the WPF board, Cline is a fundraising liaison for the Blue Ridge Healthcare Foundation and previously served on their board.
“The college has long served as a centerpiece of our community for higher education,” Cline said. “To be part of that in some small way is very inspiring. I feel there has never been a better time to be part of the foundation than now. The college is well positioned to help prepare a workforce that is evolving rapidly. I will continue to be an ambassador for the college by bringing awareness to prospective students surrounding the various program offerings the college has available, and how it can be an affordable option in the pursuit of higher education or someone looking to enhance their trade skills. Second, I hope to increase the donor base by sharing how their contribution can impact future generations and leave a lasting legacy for their family.”
The foundation also welcomed a new board member, Jane Sohovich, who brings decades of experience in business and financial services. Her roles have encompassed marketing, public relations, training, consulting and management. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Business and Marketing from the University of Southern Indiana – Evansville and several certifications in management and training. Sohovich is deeply committed to community service and had held leadership positions in several local nonprofits, including Options Inc., the Morganton Kiwanis Club, Burke County United Way, Burke County Chamber of Commerce and Burke County Endowment for the Arts Inc. She also is a member of the Burke County Board of Education.
“My core values are building relationships and providing quality customer services,” Sohovich said. “My values molded and shaped a very successful career in sales and management. Throughout my life, I’ve had a passion for working with children and students to ensure they secure a good education. This leads me into decades of volunteering in schools, as well as my community by serving as a Board of Directors chair or committee member on national and local boards.”
