WPCC Teen Film Camp Premiers “It Bites”

The 2022 Teen Film Camp participants are gathered to present their production of “It Bites”.
Morganton, NC – Earlier this month, Western Piedmont Community College’s Teen Film Camp premiered their short film production: It Bites.
A world premier was held on WPCC’s Campus in Leviton Auditorium. Students presented their work followed by a Q&A session with attendees and photos on the red-carpet.
The camp provided community youth, ages 12 to 16, an opportunity to experience the process of filmmaking from concept and story creation to production and post-production over the course of two months.
Attendees were exposed to the foundation of producing a film through various components including developing the story, auditioning actors and cast, scouting locations as well as hands-on experience with production including camera, lighting and audio.
The camp was hosted through WPCC’s Simulation & Game Development and Digital Effects & Animation Technology programs.
“Our programs have offered Sim and Game and Animation camps for area youths for many years, but this camp is unique because of the format of filmmaking which involves much teamwork and group participation,” Coordinator Jonathan Crumpler said. “The comradery of the camp attendees was inspiring, and we look forward to creating more opportunities for our young people in the future!”
Students were excited to utilize the programs newly renovated digital media labs for gaining experience in putting the film together and creating their own edits, fun trailers and behind the scenes interviews.
