Western Piedmont Foundation Names New Executive Director
The Western Piedmont Foundation, a nonprofit organization supporting Western Piedmont Community College, welcomes new executive director.
Mackenzie Bostian has been named executive director of the Western Piedmont Foundation and began working February 1. The foundation develops public and private funding sources for the college beyond that provided by government budgets.
Bostian, a Morganton native, was previously the events and marketing specialist for the Blue Ridge HealthCare Foundation and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Appalachian State University.
She contributes to her local community through a variety of volunteer experiences. She is an ambassador for the Burke County Chamber of Commerce and serves on the Chamber’s Business Showcase committee. She is a member of the Burke Emerging Leaders networking group of young professionals and serves on its steering committee. She also is a member of the Morganton Service League.
She wanted to serve the foundation because she believes that everyone should have the opportunity to access higher education.
“My passion for seeing others succeed and achieve their goals motivated me to join the foundation to help turn these visions into reality,” Bostian said.
She plans to create a signature fundraising event for the foundation this year that will provide financial support to students attending WPCC.
“Overall, I aim to continue the foundation’s growing success by developing and maintaining relationships with our community supporters and seeking opportunities that could benefit the college,” Bostian said. “I invite everyone to join us to help support those in our community to achieve their goals through an innovative, high quality, educational experience by supporting the Western Piedmont Foundation.”
WPCC President Joel D. Welch, said he is excited to have Bostian on board to lead the foundation into the future.
“She brings a new perspective and lots of energy to a foundation that is committed to serving the students of Western Piedmont Community College,” Welch said. “I look forward to working with her to grow our foundation to ensure that all WPCC students have their best opportunity for success.”
