Policy

The College uses multiple methods to place students in selected curriculum courses. The College requires all curriculum students to either produce a high school, adult high school, or high school equivalency transcript that qualifies them for specific curriculum courses or demonstrate a minimum proficiency in reading, writing, and mathematics before enrolling in certain courses required for degree credit. These prerequisites are stated in the Course Descriptions section of the General Catalog. Proficiency may be demonstrated by multiple methods: unweighted final high school GPA, ACT or SAT scores, GED or HiSet scores, Adult High School final GPA, Career and College Ready Graduate (CCRG) scores, satisfactory completion of the College’s placement tests or successful completion of Transition courses. Credit hours for developmental courses will count in a student’s load to determine full-time status, but will not count toward the degree, either within a specific category of requirements or as elective credit. Grades earned in developmental courses are not computed in the student’s GPA.
