WPCC’s 2021-2022 SGA Council

As we kicked off the Fall semester here at WPCC, the Student Government Association (SGA) has been hard at work planning events and brainstorming new ideas for campus. The purpose of the SGA is to provide the means whereby members of the student body may express issues or suggestions regarding the College, and to advance the best interests of the student body.

Each year, a new executive council is elected to conduct the day-to-day operations and serve as the face of the SGA. I am happy to officially announce the 2021-2022 WPCC SGA council.

 Shane Stacy, President

Shane is a second-year student at WPCC pursuing a degree in Applied Science in the Mechatronic Engineering Technology program. He is a North Carolina native, born in Morganton but living most of his life on the outskirts of Pisgah National Forest in McDowell County. Upon graduating, he aspires to pursue a career in a field that will help with problems the US currently faces, such as renewable energy, agriculture, or medical equipment design.

Gabrielle Williams, Vice President

Gabrielle is a CCP student, taking most of her classes at WPCC. She is an alto saxophonist who has competed and placed all the way up to the district level. She has danced since she was five years old and competed since the age of six. She says these activities have taught her many life lessons and allowed her to meet many friends over the years. She hopes to bring that experience to her council position and do her best to make your experience as a student well worth it.

 Lani Reece, Secretary

Lani is a freshman at WPCC and is studying to be a Registered Nurse. She has been part of SGA since 4th grade, and is so excited to be secretary for the WPCC council. She has clogged for 15 years and served for 2 years on the Clogging Champions of America Youth Leadership Council. Lani currently dances and teaches for The Dance Factory of Morganton. She has also been involved in pageants most of her life, and in 2019 she was crowned Teen Miss North Carolina. Her goal while serving as secretary of the SGA is to be a friendly face on campus and help out her peers.

 Daisy Jantes Moya, Treasurer

 Meagan Hennessee, Parliamentarian/PIO

Geensia Xiong, Student Ambassador

Geensia is a BMC student and is planning to get her Associates in Science degree. She is a lover of planning and watching Asian Dramas. She also enjoys kayaking when she has a chance to go to the lake. She wanted to join SGA as a way to get involved on campus, help the students, and give back to Western Piedmont.

As the SGA advisor, I’m so excited to work with this group throughout the school year. If you have any issues or suggestions that you would like us to discuss, please reach out to me at any time. My contact information is at the bottom of the Pioneer Press homepage.

Talk to you soon, Pioneers!
