Volunteering! WPCC Students Support NCSD Students
Morganton, NC – Western Piedmont Community College (WPCC) students from the Interpreter Education and Dental Assisting programs recently gave of their time at a Dental Health presentation for North Carolina School for the Deaf (NCSD) students. NCSD students were instructed on the benefits of good oral hygiene. WPCC offers an Associate in Applied Science degree in Interpreter Education, a curriculum that prepares individuals to work as entry-level Sign Language Interpreters who will provide communication access in interview and interactive settings. In addition, this curriculum provides in-service training for working interpreters who want to upgrade their skills. WPCC also offers a Dental Assisting diploma that prepares individuals to assist the dentist in the delivery of dental treatment and to function as integral members of the dental team while performing chairside and related office and laboratory procedures. Graduates may be eligible to take the Dental Assisting National Board Examination to become Certified Dental Assistants. As a Dental Assistant II, defined by the Dental Laws of North Carolina, graduates work in dental offices and other related areas.
