Tom has been employed at Western Piedmont Community College since 2007 and is currently the Department Head of Mathematics.  Since his time at WPCC Tom has served on several committees at the College and also participated in statewide committees for the Mathematics Curriculum Improvement Project and the co-requisite RISE model.  From 2011-2014 Tom served as Vice-Chair of the Compliance Certification Steering Committee for the College’s decennial review with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools – Commission on Colleges.  In 2014 Tom received the Excellence in Teaching Award and was also co-chair of the College’s annual Foundation drive.

Tom has received training from the Department Heads Institute, the Advanced Administration Institute, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and has attended several SACS-COC and NCMATYC conferences. Tom earned a BS degree from Clarion University and a MS degree from the University of New Hampshire.  Prior to joining WPCC Tom has several years of teaching experience both at the high-school and community college level.

Tom lives in Morganton with his partner Jamie and their three cats Tiger, Banjo and Red.  Tom likes being outside and enjoys running, hiking, biking, paddling, golfing, gardening or pretty much anything outside. Tom serves on the Advisory Committee for the Morganton branch of the State Employees Credit Union and also volunteers through the College for Habitat for Humanity.
