Rhia M. Crawford Joins WPCC As Academic Affairs VP

Morganton, NC— Rhia M. Crawford will join the faculty and staff of Western Piedmont Community College as Vice President for Academic Affairs around July 1, 2015.

Ms. Crawford most recently served as Vice President of Instruction and Student Development at Mayland Community College (MCC) in Spruce Pine where she previously served in several other leadership positions including Associate Vice President, Dean, Division Chair and Department Chair.

Ms. Crawford holds a master of arts degree in Leadership and Higher Education from Appalachian State University in Boone as well as a bachelor of science in Business Administration from Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, Tenn.  In addition, Ms. Crawford has completed 18 semester hours in the Doctor of Education Program in Adult and Community College Education at North Carolina State University.

During her tenure at MCC, Ms. Crawford was involved in various campus and NC Community College (NCCC) System activities that included curriculum review, change management, audit review, NCCC leadership program and senior administration institute. In addition, she served on MCC’s Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) Leadership Team and the SACS Self-Study Committee.
