I.\u00a0 Purpose<\/strong><\/p>\n

The College uses a Program Review process to demonstrate institutional effectiveness. All instructional programs and administrative and service units regularly participate in a full assessment of competencies and critical activities for their program or unit. Assessment results are reviewed by the Institutional Assessment Committee and Innovation Team and integrated into college planning processes. Through the Program Review, each instructional program and administrative or service unit identifies expected actions and outcomes, consistent with the College\u2019s mission, core values, and strategic goals, and assesses the extent to which it achieves these outcomes.<\/p>\n

The major goal of the Program Review is to maintain educational programs and administrative and service units that respond to identified student and community needs through the following objectives:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Complete a periodic review and evaluation of all educational programs and administrative and service units.<\/li>\n
  2. Produce and maintain appropriate program data and information for on-going decision-making;<\/li>\n
  3. Identify the priority educational and training needs of the College and the service area;<\/li>\n
  4. Identify those programs and services that may need to be expanded, reduced, implemented, or terminated;<\/li>\n
  5. Develop short-term and long-range planning objectives;<\/li>\n
  6. Maintain comprehensive and balanced education programs;<\/li>\n
  7. Maintain appropriate student and administrative support services; and<\/li>\n
  8. Assist management in the allocation of College financial and personnel resources.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

     <\/p>\n

    II.\u00a0 Process<\/strong><\/p>\n

    The Institutional Assessment Committee conducts a comprehensive review of each educational program and administrative and service unit every four (4) years. In the interim, educational programs and administrative units complete an annual update which is reviewed by the appropriate Vice President and Dean or Director.<\/p>\n

    Annually, the Institutional Assessment Committee prepares a template and schedule of comprehensive reviews and annual updates to share with programs and units in September. Reports are submitted to the Coordinator of Institutional Research and Evaluation by the end of fall semester for comprehensive reviews or the end of February for annual updates. A joint meeting(s) with the Institutional Assessment Committee and Innovation Team are scheduled in spring semester for presentations of comprehensive program reviews. \u00a0<\/p>\n

    The comprehensive Program Review consists of the following for educational programs:<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Program Information. <\/em>This section is based on information from the College Catalog and consists of a description of the educational program, including a statement of student learning outcomes, and information from program advisory committee meetings.<\/li>\n
    2. Strategic Planning<\/em>. This section is used to identify actions the educational program will be taking to carry out the goals of the strategic plan.\u00a0 The program is also asked to record the results of their actions.<\/li>\n
    3. Outcomes<\/em>. In this section the educational program states the student learning outcomes for the program identified in the Program Information<\/em>. Additionally, information on how each outcome will be assessed is provided along with assessment results and an analysis of the results, including how the results will be used to improve student learning.<\/li>\n
    4. Program Data<\/em>. This section consists of longitudinal data on enrollment, completion, and cost per FTE (Full Time Equivalency).<\/li>\n
    5. Analysis and Considerations<\/em>. This section analyzes the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of the program and conducts a needs analysis for budgeting purposes.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      The comprehensive Program Review consists of the following for administrative and service units:<\/p>\n

        \n
      1. Unit Information. <\/em>This section includes a narrative connecting the unit to the vision, mission, and core values of the college\u2019s strategic plan. The section further requires the unit to identify actions aligned with focus areas, goals, and indicators of the strategic plan that the unit will be carrying out and then outline the intended learning or administrative outcome of the action. Units input data on the results of the action and state how the results will be used to seek improvement.<\/li>\n
      2. Analysis. <\/em>This section compiles data from sources such as surveys and audits used by the unit to assess their work. Units also analyze their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats and conduct a needs analysis for budgeting purposes. The section is concluded with a reflection on the accomplishment and innovations of the unit since the last comprehensive program review.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Annual updates for educational programs and administrative and service units consist of recording new results for strategic planning activities and outcomes, and student learning outcomes. Results are analyzed and plans for improvement are stated if appropriate.<\/p>\n

        Since the program review process is College-wide, it is anticipated that all members of the College community will have an opportunity to comment on their respective area of responsibility. Information collected throughout this process is used to evaluate the College\u2019s progress on implementing the Strategic Plan and to set priorities related to budget, facilities, faculty development, personnel, and student support services.<\/p>\n
