WPCC Interpreting Education students Danielle Tancora, Dara Fox (left) and Britt Peidl-Murphy (right) volunteered at Camp Dogwood in Sherrills Ford, NC to assist the camp’s deaf-blind participants as part of the students’ Service Learning hours. The North Carolina Lions Camp Dogwood located on Lake Norman is a wonderful vacation retreat for the blind and visually impaired. Every summer, more than 850 visually impaired campers enjoy weekly stays with daily events. Each September, Camp Dogwood hosts events designed specifically for campers who are deaf-blind.
