Morganton, NC – Western Piedmont Community College (WPCC) announces that registration for the Career & College Promise (CCP) program will be held on Thursday, Nov. 20 from 4 to 6 p.m. in Hildebrand Hall on the college campus at 1001 Burkemont Avenue. The deadline for applications to the CCP program is Thursday, Nov. 13.

CCP is a partnership between WPCC and Burke County Public Schools that allows eligible local high school juniors and seniors to enroll in community college courses while remaining enrolled in their current high schools. Courses are available that provide pathways to a certificate, diploma, or college degree as well as provide entry-level job skills. This innovative and cost-saving program affords eligible high school students the option to earn transferrable college credits, up to two years of career training or a two-year college degree tuition free. CCP was first offered in January 2012 and replaced the high school programs formerly known as Huskins, Learn and Earn Online (LEO) and Concurrent and Dual Enrollment.

The College has recently placed billboards in Burke County to promote the CCP program and the unique opportunity it offers to high school students.

Amanda Cooper, WPCC’s Admissions & Transfer Counselor, is available to assist both students and their parents with the CCP enrollment process.

“Career & College Promise is a tremendous launching pad for those high school juniors and seniors who have a higher-educational goal, whether it is to gain college transfer credit to a four-year university or to complete a certificate program in the career technical education pathway,” said Cooper. “I’m here to answer questions from the students and parents, assist with placement testing and help them plan their next educational goals.”
