
The GEER Scholarship
Get training for high-demand jobs
Western Piedmont Community College is offering students in our Workforce Continuing Education programs scholarships through the Governor’s Emergency Education Relief (GEER) Scholarship Program. These scholarships offer help with the cost of tuition, fees, books, supplies, credentialing tests, transportation, childcare, and other expenses of attending college for short-term training.
Scholarship Details
GEER Scholarships can provide up to a maximum of $750 per course or the cost of course fee(s) if the fees exceed $750.
You must reside in North Carolina and be enrolled in a qualifying WPCC Workforce Development/Continuing Education program for 96 hours or more that leads to a State or industry-recognized credential. This may be a single course or a series of courses, and can be applied toward tuition, books, fees, uniforms, testing and other costs associated in these programs of study.
The following continuing education programs of study are eligible for GEER awards:
- Construction
- Criminal Justice
- Emergency Medical Services
- Healthcare
- Industrial/Manufacturing
- Fire and Rescue Services

How to Apply
- Talk with your instructor or WPCC Workforce Development & Continuing Education to confirm that your class(es) will qualify for GEER Scholarships.
- Download, fill out, print, and sign the GEER Scholarship Application (PDF file – open with the free Adobe Reader). If you have problems accessing and completing this form, please e-mail webmaster@wpcc.edu for help.
- Return your completed application to WPCC Financial Aid or to WPCC Workforce & Continuing Education.
