College Trustee Board Inducts Bruce A. Hawkins

Morganton, NC – Western Piedmont Community College recently inducted Bruce A. Hawkins (shown right) as a Trustee with assistance from Mabel H. Lowman, Burke County clerk of superior court. Hawkins, appointed in 2014 by the Burke County Board of Education to fill an unexpired Trustee term, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than 45 years of service to Broughton Hospital. His commitment to Burke County is well- known through his volunteer efforts to Valdese Rotary, Valdese Economic Development Investment Corporation, Burke County School Board, and Burke County Commissioners among many others. In addition, he holds area recognitions from the Morganton News Herald, the Burke County NAACP, and Burke County Public Schools as well as from a local fraternity and sorority.

Western Piedmont Community College is situated in the picturesque rolling foothills of Morganton, North Carolina, and has served the citizens of Burke County since 1964.  Each year, more than 10,700 students pursue personal enrichment, new skills for a job or career, high school diplomas, college degrees, and transfer pathways.
