– If you have been charged with a minor violation in the 36th North Carolina Judicial District, you may elect to have it reduced by the District Attorney by completing a 4-hour defensive driving course. It is offered through Western Piedmont Community College and the Safety and Health Council of North Carolina to train motorists in the principles of defensive driving. – WPCC is offering a new and exciting training for the Do-It-Yourselfer. If you have decided to do your own repairs at home. Let us lend you some helpful training. Whatever it is inside the home or yard work. WPCC has three upcoming classes that might help to achieve your goal. Course: Basic Excavator Operations This course will give the student a hands-on experience with the (CAT- Simulators) Excavator. The course will teach the student the control familiarization along with proper procedures. The course will provide scenarios from safety inspection, starting operations and shutdown. By the end of the course a student should be able to operate a mini-Excavator. There is an opportunity for a student to receive a job interview with a construction partner or municipalities. View our CAMPUS MAPS page for directions to the K-Building. – Dates: June 6th, 13th, 20th & 27th (Tuesdays) Description: These Pottery Foundations courses are perfect for anyone who is interested in getting into clay! Whether you've made mud pies in your backyard, taken one or two classes, or have never touched mud (or clay!) in your entire life but are itching to get your hands dirty, this class is for you! These short series classes will teach fundamental, basic skills needed to advance your understanding of working with clay. Learn to use hump molds and templates to create functional wares out of slabs of clay. This course will give the student the basics in electrical wiring safety, identifying the proper wires to splice and connect. The student will learn to find the proper power supply connection and all the hardware needed to install a ceiling fan. This course will give the students the proper techniques to complete the ceiling fan at home. The Camp will be a family camp to learn how to use woodworking tools safety. In the camp, the kids w/Parent or Guardian will be building a cornhole game. As a family, you will learn to sand, cut, glue and nail a corn hole board. By the end of the camp you will have your own game to take home. You will be able to make lasting memories and enjoy family together time. The cost for all materials and safety equipment will be provided to the participants in the class. Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes that can be used in carpentry shop. Events in June 2023
