If you have been charged with a minor violation in the 36th North Carolina Judicial District, you may elect to have it reduced by the District Attorney by completing a 4-hour defensive driving course. It is offered through Western Piedmont Community College and the Safety and Health Council of North Carolina to train motorists in the principles of defensive driving.

Description: The critical components of both written and performance examinations of the Educational Interpreters Performance Assessment (EIPA) will bediscussed in this course. Students will learn the domains and standards that are measured on the EIPA written exam as well as the specific skills that are measured on the EIPA performance exam. Students will be instructed in specific skills that align with EIPA performance standards. Students will also apply written and performance standards to engage in self-assessment. This course will be led by WPCC Coordinator of Interpreter Education Jeffery York. The course will include 1.35 CEUs.

This continuing education course is designed to meet the requirements to qualify for work as a Medication Aide. Topics include medication administration via oral routes, medical asepsis, hand hygiene, terminology, and legal implications. Upon completion, students are eligible to take the competency exam and demonstrate skills necessary to qualify for listing on the North Carolina Medication Aide Registry. (Required materials provided)

Requirements:

  • CNA I registry in good standing
  • Must have completed a minimum of a 75 hours Nurse Aide I class and provide documentation (Course Completion Certificate)
  • Copies of a valid Driver’s License and matching Social Security card
  • Copy of High School Diploma or GED or sealed transcript of grades

Once all required documentation has been turned in at the Foothills Higher Education Center, you will follow the registration procedure as follows:

Continuing Education classes offered through our Workforce and Professional Development Division, have a pre-registration policy, with the exception of Fire/Rescue, Law Enforcement, HRD and CTP program areas.  Students must register and pay any registration fees two business days/48 business hours prior to the start date of the class.  For example:  Class starts on Monday, the last day to register is Thursday.

8:00 am: Local Anesthesia Class for Dental Hygienist


April 18, 2024

This 24-hour local anesthesia certification course is for dental hygienists practicing for at least two years. The online aspect of this course is taught through a series of modules developed by a dentist with a background in online and distance learning. The clinical component is completed in 8 hours and incorporates several hands-on exercises, injections on anesthesia manikins, and using Safe-D-Needles before working on a peer patient. Once completed, the hygienist will receive 24 hours of NSBDE-approved continuing education and the required paperwork to submit for your local anesthesia certification.
Students will need to at least log onto the Moodle program April 18th for attendance purposes.
