– Nurse Aide I Refresher classes are for Nurse Aide I folks who have let their certification lapse. Students are required by N.C. Board of Nursing to be a Level I Nursing Assistant and to list with N.C. Division of Facility Services and N.C. Board of Nursing. The course consists of primarily review and testing to assess student knowledge. Each student must complete course with passing academic and attendance requirements to maintain registry with N.C. Division of Facility Services and N.C. Board of Nursing. Hours and course content dictated by above listed governing bodies. For Information on our Nurse Aide Refresher classes, call (828) 448-6140. In order to register for the Nurse Aide Refresher class, you must: Class sessions meet in Room 166 of the Foothills Higher Education Center on Sterling Street in Morganton. The cost of the course is $125. Write down the section number of the class for which you want to register and enter that in the online registration form below. Nurse Aide I Refresher (Section 68419) – May 1 - May 9, 2023 – CLASS SECTION: 69206 Industrial Sewing Book Camp meets May 1 - 17 every week Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM until 4:30 PM. Receive 96 credit hours from our Industrial Sewing Boot Camp! This program prepares trainees for a career in the sewn trades and is currently offered in English with some Spanish translation. Location: Carolina Textile District at The Industrial Commons on 647 Hopewell Road in Morganton, NC. This class is hosted in partnership with our local industry partners and The Industrial Commons. You will learn: TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education) tests for the Nurse Aide I and Nurse Aide II
– If you have been charged with a minor violation in the 36th North Carolina Judicial District, you may elect to have it reduced by the District Attorney by completing a 4-hour defensive driving course. It is offered through Western Piedmont Community College and the Safety and Health Council of North Carolina to train motorists in the principles of defensive driving. All day All day TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education) tests for the Nurse Aide I and Nurse Aide II

All day – – In order to be admitted into the NA II program, you must: Additional Information Once you have completed the above requirements, you will be allowed to register for the NA I class. Continuing Education classes offered through our Workforce and Professional Development Division, have a pre-registration policy, with the exception of Fire/Rescue, Law Enforcement, HRD and CTP program areas. Students must register and pay any registration fees two business days/48 business hours prior to the start date of the class. For example Class starts on Monday, the last day to register is 5:00 pm on Wednesday. Students may register via the following methods: Class sessions meet in Room 221 of the Foothills Higher Education Center on Sterling Street in Morganton. The cost of the course is $235. Additional costs include book, health form, uniforms, etc. Write down the section number of the class you want to register for to enter in the online registration below. Nurse Aide I (Section 68243) - May 16 - August 11, 2023 – WPCC is offering a new and exciting training for the Do-It-Yourselfer. If you have decided to do your own repairs at home. Let us lend you some helpful training. Whatever it is inside the home or yard work. WPCC has three upcoming classes that might help to achieve your goal. Course: Basic Excavator Operations This course will give the student a hands-on experience with the (CAT- Simulators) Excavator. The course will teach the student the control familiarization along with proper procedures. The course will provide scenarios from safety inspection, starting operations and shutdown. By the end of the course a student should be able to operate a mini-Excavator. There is an opportunity for a student to receive a job interview with a construction partner or municipalities. Well here's your chance! Come join us in learning how to build your very own stained-glass magic. Dates: May 22nd, June 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th , July 3rd View our CAMPUS MAPS page for directions to the K-Building. – Description: This class will be an introduction to basic welding processes. Topics of discussion will include Safety in Welding, Welding types, and an overview of the welding industry as a whole. Students will be given time to practice some welding techniques and get a feel for the welding trade. The students will be working with mild steel mostly focusing on stick welding and gas welding. After the class is finished Students should be able to identify and set up Oxy-Fuel & Arc Welding Equipment and perform basic welding, brazing, and soldering applications. – WPCC is offering a new and exciting training opportunity for the Do-It-Yourselfer. Let us lend you some helpful training inside your home. Date: May 23, 2023 This course will give the DO-IT-Yourselfer the basic concept to install a ceiling fan safely. This course will give the student the basics in electrical wiring safety, identifying the proper wires to splice and connect. The student will learn to find the proper power supply connection and all the hardware needed to install a ceiling fan.
