Pottery

WPCC will provide the big equipment (wheels, tables, slab roller, kilns) as well as clay and glaze. A shared assortment of basic tools (sponges, wooden knives, ribs, water bucket, needle tool, etc.) will also be available. Bring your own throwing towel, apron/smock, close-toed shoes, and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. Basic pottery tools may also be purchased at the WPCC bookstore, at any craft store, or on Amazon, and a full list of suggested tools will be provided on the first day of class.

Furniture Technology

This curriculum prepares the student to work in a furniture production plant or cabinet plant as a basic machine operator, finisher, or assembly worker. Course work includes basic furniture machine setup, clamping, sanding, finishing, and assembly fundamentals. Employment opportunities include basic machine operators, sprayers, sanders, and assemblers.

Dental Assisting

Become a Dental Assistant in just one year by successfully completing Western Piedmont Community College’s Dental Assisting program. Here, you will develop the skills to assist the dentist in the delivery of treatment, including working with patients and performing procedures in the dental laboratory.

Nurse Aide I

Nurse Aide I provides you the opportunity to pursue a healthcare career with entry-level skills in a hospital or nursing home setting.  Upon successful completion, you will be eligible to apply for The Nurse Aide I test administered through Credentia.  After passing the state test, you will be listed on the Nurse Aide I registry at DHHS. CPR for Basic Life Support Certification is now included with this class.

Phlebotomy

This program prepares the graduate to draw blood specimens from patients for the purpose of testing and analyzing blood and all duties related to the preparation and maintenance of specimens, equipment, and paperwork. CPR for Basic Life Support Certification is now included with this class

Notary

Notary classes are essential for anyone interested in becoming a Notary Public. They provide necessary knowledge and skills to perform notarial acts and adhere to state regulations. This class covers a range of topics, including notary duties, responsibilities, laws, regulations, proper procedures, and more.
