WPCC Hosts Art Exhibit Created by New Dimensions Students
Western Piedmont Community College (WPCC) invites the public to attend the opening of the art exhibit “Collabocolo” and a reception on Thursday, March 3 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Phifer Learning Resource Center’s Raymond B. Goodfellow Gallery. The artwork was created by kindergarten through 8th grade students at New Dimensions School in Morganton with the support and collaboration of visiting artist Tiffany Thomas, an emerging, mixed-media painter and ceramicist from South Carolina and Kathryn Ervin, New Dimensions art instructor.
The collection is a mixed-media piece using scrap wood, paint, and an assortment of other recycled items predicated on specific reflections of color theory. This project was a creative endeavor to better understand key elements and principles of design, while also serving to facilitate eminent life lessons about working as a team and global stewardship.
Staff from Western Piedmont Community College and faculty from the College’s Visual and Performing Arts department are supporting the event. For more information WPCC art programs, please contact Mark Poteat, Visual & Performing Arts department head, at (828) 448-3538 or mpoteat@wpcc.edu.
