Vicki Shuping, AAS, CMA (AAMA)
Instructor, Medical Assisting
As a child I watched and heard my grandmother speak of caring for and nursing the sick in the community. I was fascinated with her stories. Then the time came when my grandmother was sick with cancer. As I sat by her bedside and cared for her needs I realized helping the sick was my calling. As a 17 year old, I began my search for a career in healthcare. That search brought me to WPCC were I learned about the Medical Assisting Program. In 1983 I graduated with my Associates degree and began working in Pediatrics. Three years later I accepted a position with Internal Medicine where I practiced for 29 years. In 2008, I earned my certification as a Certified Medical Practice Manager and served as Practice Manager during my last 15 years in office.
In Fall 2014, I was invited to share my expertise in medical assisting as an instructor in the Medical Assisting Program at WPCC. The opportunity to share knowledge and experience with students on a daily basis is very rewarding. As an instructor, I hope to bring to the classroom the joy I experienced in performing administrative and laboratory procedures. To see students gain necessary skills and understanding needed to realize their goals and achieve their dreams is one of life’s treasures. When I am not in the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my family, friends and dog, Ruth. I also appreciate being outdoors, photography, traveling to new places, and baking.
