Burke Reads Kickoff is Sunday, Sept. 30!

WPCC is once again participating in the community-wide Burke Reads program which  begins on Sunday, Sept. 30 at 3 p.m. at the Morganton Public Library.  The Burke Reads project encourages the entire community to read a single book, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald.

During coming weeks, opportunities to discuss and learn more about the book and related topics will be offered. Our own Reader’s Theater lead by WPCC drama instructor Deborah Lonon will be offering a performance along with faculty serving as cast members!  Refreshments and croquet on the front lawn are part of this fun event.  Come support these folks and pick up a free copy of the book!

Upcoming events will include an outdoor showing of the movie, a lecture on the book, a panel discussion on the theme of the book, The American Dream, and a Roaring 20’s dance.  More updates will be posted soon!
