Western Piedmont Community College
complies with all provisions of Titles VI and VII of the Civil
Rights Act of 1964 (as amended), the Age Discrimination Act of 1967
(as amended), the Equal Pay Act of 1963, Executive Order 11246 (as
amended), Title IX of the 1976 Higher Education Amendments, the
Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Vietnam Era Veteran’s Readjustment
Assistance Act of 1974, The Americans With Disabilities Act of 1990,
and other related federal and state legislation pertaining to equal
employment opportunity. It is the intent of the College that equal
employment opportunity will be extended to all applicants without
regard to race, religion, sex, ethnic origin, age, disability, or
association and that positive efforts will be made by all personnel
to prevent discriminatory employment practices and to ensure that
employment, promotions, and terminations of individuals are handled
on a fair and impartial basis.
As part of a commitment to increase
the number of minority employees, Western Piedmont has established a
goal that the proportion of minority employees should be equal to
their proportionate representation in the relevant labor markets for
faculty, administrative, professional, and non-academic positions.
The Trustees and President shall oversee and monitor the
implementation of the Ethnic and Gender Diversity Enhancement Plan
through the Affirmative Action Officer in cooperation with all
faculty and staff throughout the College. Affirmative action and
equal education opportunity are viewed as integral parts of the
mission of Western Piedmont Community College.
