ACADEMIC ADVISING

To assist students in their academic programs, the College has established a system of academic counseling whereby students are assigned to faculty members or counselors who serve as advisors. Advisors help to plan students’ academic programs during pre-registration and registration periods, keep a record of progress, and are available throughout the year for additional academic guidance. However, the final responsibility for meeting all academic requirements for a selected program rests with students. Students planning to transfer to another college or to a university are cautioned that the receiving institution may use a different method of computing grade point averages for admission or placement purposes.

An advisor is assigned to a student, based on that student's academic program selection. Those students who have not selected a program, or visiting students, may receive advising through the Advising Center in Student Services, Hildebrand Hall. Hours are 8:00am until 7:30pm, Monday through Thursday and 8:00am until 5:00pm, on Friday.

If you have difficulty finding the assistance you need, contact the Dean of Student Services at 448-6051.
