College Foundation Inducts New President
Morganton, NC – Western Piedmont Foundation (WPF) Board Director Susan Pollpeter (left) was recently inducted as the incoming WPF President. Also recognized by WPF Board of Directors, Western Piedmont Community College’s (WPCC) Board of Trustees, WPCC President Dr. Michael Helmick and senior college administration was outgoing WPF President, Bill Lennon (right).
Pollpeter joined the WPF Board of Directors in 2010 and has served as an Executive Committee member, Vice President, Campaign Team Captain and member of the Burke Collegiate Scholarship Committee during her time on the Board.
Among her upcoming duties as President of the Foundation, Pollpeter will serve as the chair of the Foundation’s 2014-2015 Annual Giving Campaign focused on raising support for student scholarships, community and professional development and students pursuing their high school diploma through WPCC’s Adult High School Diploma and High School Equivalency Program (GED).
In his service as the Foundation President, Lennon served as the 2013-2014 Annual Giving Campaign Chair which resulted in 100% giving from Trustees and Directors, 99% giving from full-time College employees and surpassing of the campaign goal by more than 30 percent. Since joining the Board in 2009, Lennon has served as an Executive Committee Member, President, Vice President, and Campaign Team Captain.
Western Piedmont Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit organization founded to encourage and develop public and private support for Western Piedmont Community College beyond that provided by county, state and federal funds. Created in 1967, it was one of the first fundraising organizations created by community colleges in North Carolina.
