The Teacher

with children in the primary grades

school environments. Students will combine
learned theories of child development with
practice in actual settings with children, under
the supervision of qualified teachers.
Course work is comprised of child growth and
development, including atypical development;
physical and nutritional needs of children;
guidance of children's behavior; classroom
management and instructional techniques,
strategies for inclusion of children with
exceptionalities, educational technology and
relationship building skills with parents.
Students will learn to foster the cognitive,
linguistic, physical, social/emotional and
creative areas of development in children.
Graduates are prepared to professionally support
the certified classroom teacher in the
implementation of strategies for required
instructional areas. Employment opportunities
include primary grade settings, mainly in public
schools. |
