Accessible College Experience (ACE) Program
Western Piedmont Community College offers an inclusive, two-year learning experience for students with intellectual disabilities. The Accessible College Experience (ACE) program is designed to facilitate transition from high-school to adult life and includes development in the areas of self-determination skills, community participation, vocational preparation, and social learning.
ACE Program participants are integrated into curriculum classes for the entire tenure of their program. All ACE participants are required to take a core group of courses. Additional courses are selected based on the student’s interests, skills, and career goals. ACE Participants will receive Recognition of Collegiate Achievement, but will not be eligible for an undergraduate degree, certificate, or diploma and will not be eligible to earn college credit.
ACE Participants must apply for admission to the ACE program through the Office of Disability Services by May 1st prior to the academic year they are seeking enrollment. Consideration of applicants will be based on the following admission criteria:
