Outstanding Staff Award

Western Piedmont Community College named Bill Lefevers as recipient of the 2012 Outstanding Staff Award following nomination for the 21tstannual award by his co-workers. Western Piedmont Foundation Past President Terry Childers presented Lefevers with the award at the College's convocation breakfast in August.

Each year, Western Piedmont Community College recognizes an outstanding staff member selected for their superior work history, strong commitment to the College's open-door philosophy, and dedication to assisting students, faculty, and staff. Recipients receive a plaque and $1,000 monetary award, in addition to the admiration and respect of their colleagues. The award is sponsored by Western Piedmont Foundation and funded from proceeds of the foundation’s annual golf classic.

Lefevers, Western Piedmont’s Director of Planning and Research in the Student Development division, is a five-year employee with the College.   He holds a master’s degree in Public Administration from Webster University in St. Louis, MO.

Staff and faculty recognized Lefevers for his commitment to the College’s mission as an accomplished professional and steady guide.  One nominator remarked that “without the research and data Bill provides, many new programs would not be created, program accreditations would not happen, and critical success factors would not be achieved.”

Western Piedmont Community College enrolls approximately 4,000 students annually in pursuit of college transfer degrees, two year associate degrees and diplomas.  More than 10,000 students enroll each year in continuing education courses for professional development and personal enrichment. The College also provides programs for high school completion.  Western Piedmont received recognition for Exceptional Institutional Performance based on standards established by the North Carolina General Assembly.
