Morganton, NC—Western Piedmont Community College named Linda Carswell as recipient of the 2013 Outstanding Staff Award following nomination for the 22nd annual award by her co-workers. Western Piedmont Foundation Past President Philip Moore presented Ms. Carswell with the award at the College's convocation breakfast in August.
Each year, Western Piedmont Community College recognizes an outstanding staff member selected for his/her superior work history, strong commitment to the College's open-door philosophy, and dedication to assisting students, faculty, and staff. Recipients receive a plaque and $1,000 monetary award, in addition to the admiration and respect of their colleagues. The award is sponsored by Western Piedmont Foundation and funded from proceeds of the foundation’s annual golf classic.
Ms. Carswell, Western Piedmont’s Director of Purchasing in the Administrative Services division, has been an employee with the College for almost 10 years. She holds master’s and bachelor’s degrees from Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs.
Staff and faculty recognized Ms. Carswell for her commitment to her noble principles and unwavering dedication. One nominator remarked that “Linda exhibits the characteristics that each employee at WPCC should have: a good attitude, the ability to work well with others, and the realization that the student is the reason we strive to do our work well.”
